2014
This was a great year for our family.
Abby turned 11, Kate turned 9, Ella turned 7, Lucy turned 3.
January - For Christmas we gave our girls a vacation to Disneyland, so in Janaury we traveled to Disneyland as a family. We spent 3 days in both parks. Some of the highlights were meeting Anna and Elsa (3 1/2 hour wait in line) lunch at Ariel's Grotto and meeting all the Princesses, and visiting Carsland for the first time.
February - Lucy turned 3 and had a Princess Birthday. James turned 36 and we had a basketball theme. We had Jon Thorpe & Company rip up the carpet and tile the kitchen, laundry room and mud room. He also did molding, new doors etc. We also got new carpet in great room. These are fun additions to our home.
March - Abby & Kate were Jitterbug Dancers in the school play, The Wizard of Oz. They were really fun to watch in all 3 shows. Abby & Kate completed a fun session of Jr Jazz Basketball. James was really sick with pnemonia. It was a rough 6 weeks and we are so glad he got better.
April - James and I ran the Salt Lake Half Marathon together. 13.1 miles. Kate & Ella competed in a dance duo, "Let It Go."
May - Ella played on her first soccer team and we discovered that Ella is a great soccer player. Kate picked up tumbling and got her backhandspring. Kate's Relfection's Piece went all the way to State. She took a photograph of Abby. Abby was really sick and missed 3 weeks of school. We are SO glad she eventually got better.
June - We traveled to Sacramento & San Francisco, California as a family. We enjoyed Alcatraz, Ghirardelli, Golden Gate Bridge, Golden State Park, Cable Car, Pier 39. We also extended our vacation and stayed in Lake Tahoe for a few days. This was our first time to Lake Tahoe and it was beautiful! We loved family bike rides, the beach, Emerald Bay and being as a family. James rode his bike around the entire lake. Summer fun included baketball camps at BYU and Matt Harpering for Abby. Swimming at Uncle Dave's with Meg. Art classes with Ms. Cherilyn. Tennis lessons with The Stevenson's. Season Lagoon Passes. Seven Peaks Provo.
July - We stayed at The Canyons for the first time with the Smedley Family for the 4th of July. We enjoyed riding the tram to the top, hiking and paddle boats on the top of the mountain. Later in the month, James & I went to Jackson Hole with all of the employees at his work. We enjoyed White Water Rafting and Bar J Wranglers as a group and hiking around Jenny Lake with just the two of us.
August - Lucy started Preschool with Ms. Mary and LOVES it. Abby started 6th grade, Kate 3rd grade and Ella 1st grade. It was a big adjustment for me to have all of the kids in school. I quickly found that while Lucy is at Preschool, it is the perfect chance for me to go to the temple. It has been a great blessing in my life.
September - James completed LOTOJA for the second year in a row. 200 miles is a day riding from Logan to Jackson Hole. This time he did it 50 minutes faster than last year. Abby & Kate came with us to Jackson Hole and we enjoyed a mini-vacation together.
October - Ella played Fall Soccer. We had a fun Halloween. Abby was a 50's girl, Kate a Flapper, Ella a witch and Lucy was Sleeping Beauty. James was realeased at a Stake High Councilor and called as the Second Counselor in the new Bishopbric with Ken Redding at Bishop and Keith Schupe at First Counselor. Although a big asjustment at first, James' calling has been a huge blessing to our whole family.
November - James and I travled to Amelia Island, Florida to celebrate 15 years of marriage. Highlights were the long bike rides (longest one was 30 miles) and walks on the beach.
December - We had a really warm December with our first really big snow storm on Christmas morning. Sledding, ice skating, movies, dancing at The Festival of Trees and Mo Tab with the Muppets all made it fun. Abby completed another session of Jr Jazz.
It has been a great 2014!
