Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentine's Day
2012
I loved this Valentines Day!
For breakfast I made a huge pink heart shaped muffin.
As I served it up, I told the girls, "
"I want to give you a piece of my heart!" :)Abby and James made the cutest iPOD Valentine box.
I was so happy to get to help with Abby's 3rd grade class party.
We love Abby's teachers,
Ms. Dolling and Mrs. Doxey.
They are incredible teachers, and even danced
in the Conga Valentine line!
For dinner we continued our tradition of take out,
and had dinner together at home.
James also gave me a dozen red roses.
I love this family!

Crazy Spaghetti Dinner

For FHE tonight we had a very interesting spaghetti dinner. Instead of using forks, we had a bowl full of cooking utensils to choose from. We let each of the kids "choose" which utensil they wanted to eat their spaghetti with.
At first, Ella was really mad, and even cleared her dish from the table.
Ella eventually decided it was fun,
and used an ice cream scoop to enjoy her spaghetti.
Abby choose a soft tablespoon,
and did very well scooping her spaghetti.
Kate choose tongs, and slurped and pinched up her spaghetti.
She got the prize for the nosiest eater! :)
Lucy was very patient and ate her dinner with a spatula,
until we let her cheat and use her fingers.
J tried a tiny tong, which left me with the potato masher....thanks a lot!

Dinner was a repeat of a date James and I had as teenagers. We did the same thing, however, Aunt Allie gave us the idea of applying this crazy dinner to the gift of agency.
We talked about agency and the Plan of Happiness.
We also tied in the 2012 Primary theme, "Choose The Right." I found cute CTR plaques that we wrapped up as a gift to the girls to help them remember
to always make good choices.

Superbowl Party

Superbowl 2012
The girls went all out this year making team posters. Kate included the team colors, white, blue and red, on her poster. She even drew out possible plays. She was sure to let everyone know she was rooting for the big guys, aka The Giants. Abby took a poll to see who everyone was rooting for. It was so fun to see their creativity.
Kate diagramming and explaining possible plays.

We made Mexican layered dip, cold cut sandwiches and sat in front on the TV, which the kids all agreed was AWESOME!!! Ella couldn't believe we would let her sit on the couch to eat dinner.
It was a kids dream come true! It really was their favorite part!

Happy Groundhog Day

Winter or Spring?
To celebrate this holiday, we had a fun groundhog dinner last night,
complete with groundhog burgers. Yum! :)

We set half of the table in white with snow and a winter theme.
The other half of the table we decorated yellow representing the sun and warmth and Spring.
We all placed our guesses on whether the groundhog would see his shadow.
For dessert, the Winter end of the table had chocolate and the Spring side table had popsicles. In the center of the table....our groundhog in his hole!
Kate and Abby sat on the Spring side of the table with their bubbles,
pinwheels, and sunglasses.
We made these cute little groundhogs with popsicles sticks and paper cups
that slide in and out of the hole.
We completed the celebration this morning by watching
the groundhog see his shadow on TV.
6 more weeks of Winter

Our Groundhog Breakfast included:
Sunny side eggs (since the sun and shadow were seen)
Homemade Groundhog Applesauce
Groundhog heart Muffins (candy hearts baked inside blueberry muffins)
AND
Hot Chocolate for Ella and Colby who sat on the Winter side of the table
and Cold Chocolate milk for Kate and Abby who sat on the Spring side.

Love these girls!!!
