Baby Lucy and Baby Viv

Lucy had her first play date this week!
Lucy (5 weeks) and Viv (3 weeks) ate, slept,
and had their diapers changed!
There will be many more fun play dates to come!
Love these sleepy babies!

When we moved into our house last July, there were several houses in the ward for sale.
By October, all of the houses sold, and 6 new families (including us) were in the ward.
We were so excited to learn that another new family, was expecting baby #5.
We were even more excited to learn that we had the exact same due date!
Grace and I quickly became great friends counting down and anticipating
the arrival of our little ones on February 28th, 2011.

Although they each made their debut on different days, with
Lucy being born on February 16, and Viv on March 3,
they will always share the same due date!

Our Mature Little Abigail

I am reminded all of the time that Abby is growing up!
This week I have noticed several things about Abby that make her seem so old to me!

  • Will and Henry called her on the phone, to see if she could "hang out."
  • Abby fed the fish in our fishpond (this is the girl who didn't want us to buy this house last summer, because of the fish pond! This is the girl who hates fish!).
  • Abby is becoming a confident cook. This week she made homemade pizza, raspberry muffins, and burritos, all by herself (she only needed help with the hot pans and oven).
  • Abby has been teaching ME how to play the recorder! Impressive Abby!
  • She stayed home with Lucy, all by herself while Ella and I drove to pick up Kate at a friends house.

As I have observed Abby doing all of these things this week, I told Abby, "You are getting so old." Her response, "I am not getting old! That makes me sound like I am an old person.
I am just getting mature!"
Yes you are Abby, and we are so proud of you!

Sprinter Time

We have been enjoying the flowers, the blossoms on the trees, and being outside. So....last night we cleaned the mudroom and packed away gloves, mittens, and heavy coats to
make way for lighter jackets and for Spring.
This morning we woke up to falling snow! The kids found a way to ride their bikes, even in the snow! They were thrilled!
The best of both worlds!
Kate calls it Sprinter Time...a mix between Spring and Winter!

Animal Fun

Last Sunday we spotted over 10 deer in the meadow behind our house.
We had fun with the binoculars!
Ella learned about fish in
Sunbeams. Her teacher gave each of the kids a fish to take home.
She named her fish "bubbles, "the same as Adelaide's fish!
We kept the fish in the house for a few days, and then let took it outside to the pond.
We have about 8 fish in the pond now. I am surprised they made it through the cold winter!
The pond has been frozen for months!
It will be fun to watch Bubbles grow!

Finally...the woodpecker! Every morning when we are eating breakfast, a silly woodpecker comes and taps on the chimney. Birds calls, and pecking make their way out the fireplace, making us feel like we are in the wild!

Curious Ella

This has been quite a week...
Ella has shown a lot of curiosity this week!
She must be 3 1/2....and she is!

On Saturday, Ella touched a hot pan on the stove and experienced her first painful burn! Ouch!
On Sunday, in her velvet dry clean only dress (who buys those anyway?), Ella was found washing all of her barbies hair in the bathroom sink.
Buckets of water were flowing in inches all over the floor.
The next day, Ella was found cutting her American Girl Itsy Bitsy Baby's hair!

Growing up hurts, for the child and the mom!!!
I record these painful memories is hopes that one day we can look back and laugh!

Big Girls Don't Cry

Big Girls (Ella says it GRILLS) Don't Cry!
Ella is excited about her dance. She is in the purple leo on the far right!
Way to shake it ELLA!!!

What can you do with a box?

Some of our good friends recently moved.
We offered them our packing boxes.
Of course the girls wanted to save a couple of boxes
to make houses out of.
Abby got inside with her journal, and left this note on the outside.
It reads, "This is private. Please do not come in."
Love it!

Lucy is 1 Month Old

March 16, 2011
Lucy is 1 month old...

At one month old, it is fun to see Lucy's personality.

  • She is a very calm baby. She is really easy to soothe and responds well to being held.
  • She is already holding her head up really well.
  • Lucy loves baths! Kate loves to hold her, and is the first to tell me when she needs a bath (everyday in Kate's mind).
  • She does a really cute talk kind of cry, to get attention. It is adorable.
  • She has a fussy time of night. It is around 6:00-11:00. It varies every night, but thank goodness J is home so we can pass her back and forth!
  • She loves her binky!
  • She loves riding in the car and usually falls asleep (this is huge since we spend a lot of time taxing the older girls around)!

Lucy has a game we love to play with her. If you ask her,
"Lucy, where is your tongue? She sticks her tongue out!"
We love you little Lucy!

1 Month Old Pictures

Who does Lucy look like???

ABBY - 1 Month Old

KATE - 1 Month Old

ELLA - 1 Month Old

LUCY - 1 Month Old

Who does Lucy look like?
We get asked all of the time...
Lucy has...
blue eyes like Abby.
brown hair like Kate.
mouth and nose like Ella.

When Lucy was first born, she looked a lot like Kate.
At a month old, she looks a lot more like a brown haired Ella.

Words of Ella

Ella was eating ice cream and said, "I wish I had two mouths. This is so yummy!"

Ella was trying to staple a piece of paper, and in frustration said, "I think this is out of batteries!"

Monkeyface Photography

I love photographs!
I love photographs that capture memorable moments!

Today we had a 2 1/2 hour long photo shoot at
Monkeyface Photography!
I am so impressed with their newborn website:

http://www.monkeyfacephotography.com/newborn.html

I spent all day yesterday buying dresses, bows, and tutu's,
and most of today bathing the girls, blow drying hair,
and painting pretty nails!

Aunt Amanda was so nice to come along and help!
THANK YOU!!!
We had a lot of fun! The girls were SO good!
I can't wait to get the proofs!

Afterwords, we took the girls to Subzero,
for a special ice cream treat!
Love my sweet girls!!!

St. Patrick's Day

Getting in the mood for GREEN!!!

Winter Wonderland

This morning we woke up to a Winter Wonderland with 12-15 new inches of snow!
The bright beautiful sun is shinning, yet the temperatures are warm enough that we also woke up to snow free roads!
All the beauty, without having to slide down the road to get Abby to school! Yea!!!

After we dropped Abby off at school, we drove home on the boulevard!

The BEST big sisters

Happy Girls!
Ella loves to help change Lucy's diapers.
She watches to see when the magic diapers change from yellow to blue.
She loves to get a new diaper and wipes, and help with every step of the way!
Besides holding Lucy, Kate loves to burp Lucy!
Abby loves to hold Lucy, and to watch Lucy!
One day, for about an hour and a half, Abby sat on the
couch holding and watching Lucy in silence!
It was such a sweet sight!
We can't get enough of Lucy!
What great big sisters Lucy has!
