Happy 8th Birthday Kate!!!

8 Years ago this adorable baby girl

Kathryn Lauren Derrick, was born into our

family.  She was 17 days early and when she was born, the

umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck twice.  We felt like

it was a blessing that she was born when she was and

that she was healthy and beautiful without any complications.

 Kate was 7 lbs. 10 oz and 20 1/2 inches long

 Kate was a very peaceful, observant baby. She hardly 

cried or fussed at all.  She still has a quiet 

peacefulness about her

as an 8 year old.

Kate loved to watch Abby and to be entertained by her.

 I loved to hold Kate as a sweet sleeping baby,

and I love to be around her now.  She is a peacemaker.

She is always very helpful, and is always looking out for

those around her.  Kate is a leader and especially loves

little kids.  We love you Kate.  We are so lucky to

have you in our family.

All Seasons Resort - Park City

Park City

August 2013

We planned a few days to getaway to Park City and 

enjoy the last few days of summer.  

We enjoyed swimming a lot.

   The condo we stayed at had plenty of room.

The girls enjoyed baking....

painting...

whirlpooling...

 ...watching movies and painting fingernails

in the girls room and relaxing...

James went on a long 100 mile

bike ride.  Later in the day he took

Kate and Abby on a short bike

ride along the park city trail. It is 

fun to take bikes on vacation.

 We spent a day back to school

shopping at the Park City Outlets.

The girls each picked out a sweatshirt.

 We enjoyed taking a morning walk

along Park City Main Street.

The girls thought this was

hilarious. 

 We drove over Guardsmen's Pass,

and into Big Cottonwood Canyon.  We had a picnic

and walked around Silver Lake. 

It was fun to have a weekend away with

my favorite people in the world.

Megan's Summer Camp

 Megan put together a fun two-day cultures

camp.  One day was Hawaii and the second day

the girls learned about Africa.

The girls had a lot of fun~!

 We stopped at Station Park

on the way home for cookies

and to play at the park.

Lulu

 Lucy's first time sleeping in curlers.

I am amazed at her willingness to sit

still and sleep in curlers.  She is only 2!! She actually cried

when we took them OUT the next morning.

I think she liked having long hair.

 Thanks to Kate for making curlers so fun.

Private Tumbling Lessons

 This is the first summer that all 4 girls

are taking dance, even Lucy.  In addition to

their regular classes we have been doing private

lessons with Ms. Mo to work on their tumbling.

I am not a great photographer and the kids

move really fast.....but the girls are doing great

on all of their back-handsprings, round-offs 

and everything in between.

Abby's Braces

 Dr. Feller gave her a gift certificate to Keva Juice.

That helped clear up some of the tears.

Dr. Feller also gave her a T-shirt, water bottle,

bracelet and made getting braces lots of fun.
