Yaquina Head Lighthouse

We enjoyed climbing the 114 stairs to the top of
this beautiful light house.
,
This is the second oldest lighthouse is Oregon,
built in 1873.  The walls are 5 feet thick.
It was fun to climb the spiral staricases,
although Kate and I held on tight to eachother.
Lucy barely passed the height test, and we were
so glad we could all go on the tour.
I love the ages of all of our kids right now.
This is the very top.  It still blinks twice every 20 seconds.
It was a rainy day, and we enjoyed
walking along the coast with our umbrellas.
I have always liked the idea and purpose behind
lighthouses. It was fun to think about
lighthouses and to tour a "real" lighthouse as a family.
